The Acasta was lead ship of the "K" class (ex-Acasta class) destroyer. 12 admiralty ships and 8 Special K vessels built between 1912 and 1913. This was the first class of British destroyers armed with 4-inch guns. Serving in the 4th Destroyer flotilla, 4 ships were lost during the battle of Jutland. Several vessels were transferred to the 6th flotilla, serving as part of the Dover Patrol. The surviving vessels of the class were sold and scrapped by 1923, with one being sold to Brazil.
